A1 Self Storage: Frequently asked Questions

We truly believe the customer is to be put first. You will find our staff is ready to help you with your self storage needs. We also understand that moving belongings in and out of self storage isn't anyone's favorite pastime. That's why we will go the extra mile to save you time.

Here are some frequently asked questions that may help answer some of your questions. Please contact one of our managers if you have any other questions.

Do you sell packing materials?
Most all of our self storage locations have an inventory of packing and moving supplies.

Why do I need insurance?
While your items are in storage they are not covered by the storage location for loss or damage. We strongly recommend that all customers take advantage of the insurance offered at the location. Do not assume any existing policy will automatically cover your items in storage. Check with your insurance agent regarding your homeowners or renters policy coverage.

Does your locations provide outside storage for RV/ Boat/ Car/ Motorcycle?
Some of our self storage locations offer outside storage where you can store boats, RVs, trucks trailers, motorcycles and cars. But this is not a standard offering at all locations. Find the closest location to see if the service is available. The vehicle must be drivable and we need a copy of the registration or title on file.

Do you offer any discounts or run specials?
Our pricing is very competitive and specials are not always necessary to offer you the best deal available. Based on availability, we do offer rent specials and always offer a $1.00 for your second month special and also for long term rental we have a 5% discount if rent is paid one year in advance.

Do you supply the security locks?
We sell them on-site or you may bring your own lock.

What items cannot be stored?
You cannot store any hazardous, toxic, or illegal items. Also, no food or perishable items can be stored in our spaces. If in doubt of what can be stored in our spaces, please ask the property manager. Examples of items that cannot be stored are: Ammunitions, gasoline, paint, paint thinner, propane, food, produce, plants, fireworks, etc.

What is climate control?
Climate control is a feature that we offer at several of our facilities. Our climate controlled units maintain a temperature of 55 to 80 degrees. This feature helps protect your stored belongings from the extreme temperatures.

What type of deposit/fees do you charge?
We do not charge a deposit fee, but we do charge a small administration fee.

Do I have to rent for a certain number of months?
No, your lease is on a month-to-month basis, with a minimum of one month.

What are the payment terms?
We strive to make your storage experience as hassle free as possible, including paying your bill. Typically, our leases are month-to-month but we also offer the flexibility of long-term leases. We also offer Auto Pay. We can automatically charge your MasterCard®, Visa®, Discover®, or American Express® each month.

What type of security do you provide?
We take great pride in protecting your belongings and strive to provide state of-the-art security. We feature electronic gate with coded access, monitored video surveillance, fenced and well-lit facilities.

Can anyone drive onto the property?
All of our facilities have an electronic gate system which can only be opened by a security code that is assigned to each individual tenant. The code allows us to monitor who is entering and exiting the facility.

What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
The office hours are the hours of operation for the property. During these hours the Store Manager will be available to assist you with your storage needs or moving and packing supplies. The gate hours are the hours of the property, and when your unit can be accessed.

When can I access my unit?
Access to your unit is every day from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. This includes holidays.

How much notice must be given when I move out?
You must vacate before the first day of any month, or you will have to pay for that month. If you know in advance when you want to vacate, please contact the facility manager as soon as possible. We do not prorate the month you move out.

 

We sell moving supplies at select locations! Moving Tip: Keep everything organized when storing your items. That way things are easier to find when you're looking for them later.
